The Association of Naval Aviation (ANA) was organized on 1 May 1956 as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization incorporated under IRS code Section 165 by retired Navy Captain Richard T. Garcia (USN). The association has been led since its founding by a board composed primarily of active-duty Navy fighter pilots.
